Bachelor of Technology and Livelihood Education

The BTLE program is an undergraduate teacher education program that equips learners with adequate and relevant competencies in the area of Technology and Livelihood Education, particularly for the TLE exploratory Courses from Grades 4-8.

The program offers Bachelor of Technology and Livelihood Education BTLE majors in Industrial Arts and in the future, Home Economics, ICT and Agri-Fishery Arts

PROGRAM OUTCOMES

  1. Demonstrate the competencies required of the Philippine TVET Trainers -Assessors Qualifications Framework (PTTQF).
  2. Demonstrate broad and coherent, meaningful knowledge and skills in technology and livelihood education.
  3. Apply with minimal supervision specialized knowledge and skills in technology and livelihood education.
  4. Demonstrate higher level literacy, communication, numeracy, critical thinking, learning skills needed for higher learning.
  5. Manifest a deep and principled understanding of the learning processes and the role of the teacher in facilitating these processes in their students.
  6. Show a deep and principled understanding of how educational processes relate to larger historical, social, cultural, and political processes.
  7. Apply a wide range of teaching process skills (including curriculum development, lesson planning, materials development, educational assessment, and teaching approaches).
  8. Reflect on the relationships among the teaching process skills, the learning processing in the students, the nature of the content/subject matter, and other factors affecting educational processes in order to constantly improve their teaching knowledge, skills and practices.

One of the aims of this course is to enhance students’ leadership, creativity, teamwork, resourcefulness, connection, self-confidence, and initiative by giving them opportunities to be involved in different school activities. With the responsibilities given to them, they can showcase their talents and skills that will help them to grow. This course also aims to develop students not only academically but also their social skills. This course aims to develop students holistically.

Students are also given a chance to experience real-life teaching experience on their practice teaching. Practice teaching is the vital component of teacher education and training because it provides student teachers with an opportunity to learn from experience in the workplace. It also provides the students with an opportunity to apply their pedagogical knowledge and skills in practice. One of the aims is also that the student will be able to understand his/her role in the larger whole of the profession and in the extended operational environment of the school.
