Tarlac State University started the regular working days of 2020 today, January 6, with lessons on patriotism, discipline, and change delivered during the flag raising ceremony at the TSU Main Campus.

The flag raising ceremony was hosted by the Civil Security Unit headed by Mr. Jayson R. Felix and Values Restoration Officer and Director of the HRDMO, Mr. Marlon Dela Cruz.

Patriotism is the assigned weekly value focus as discussed by Dela Cruz based on the Council for the Restoration of Filipino Values (CRFV). He shared that every Filipino citizen can show patriotism through obeying rules and loving the environment.

In addition, Felix informed the TSU community in his message that the security guards in all campuses are simply enforcing the rules and policies of the university based on their mandate to ensure the safety and security of everyone within the campus and the campus itself.

“Huwag po sana kayo magagalit kapag po sinisita kayo ng mga guwardiya natin dahil ginagawa lamang po nila ang kanilang trabaho,” Felix said.

He also urged the audience to secure their car stickers and reminded the students to wear their IDs and to follow the prescribed dress code as a showcase of discipline.

Meanwhile, TSU President Dr. Myrna Q. Mallari also gave a message which focused on resolutions common every start of the year. Dr. Mallari said, “We should not wait every New Year to change because we can change anytime within the year if we want to.”

Dr. Mallari also presented the newly designated university officials which include Dr. Niño B. Corpuz, OIC Vice President for Planning and Quality Assurance, and Dr. Ma. Socorro D. Valdez, Director of the Quality Assurance Office.

January 6 also marks the start of the assisted enrollment for the second semester of the undergraduate programs.
