Aimed at helping in the standardization and quality of the famous Chicharon Camiling, Tarlac State University’s Food Technology and Research Center (FTRC) along with the College of Science (COS) research and extension representatives brought science and technology closer to the community by providing continued technical assistance and consultancy services to selected producers of Artisanal Chicharon Camiling in Camiling town of Tarlac Province earlier today (January 7, 2022).

The project, with funding from the Department of Science and Technology Regional Office III Grants-In-Aid (GIA) program, supports local enterprises in Camiling towards the standardization of processes, product specification, and packaging of a “safe and quality” Chicharon Camiling.

Furthermore, it aims to come up with minimum recommended guidelines in the production of the Artisanal Chicharon Camiling that will serve as a reference in sustaining the livelihood of the community addressing the Sustainable Development Goals on eliminating hunger, ensuring economic growth, and having sustainable communities.

This is also conducted in partnership with the local government of Camiling and DOST PSTC Tarlac which started last July 2021 and will conclude in June 2022.
